Germies, Cooties and Boogies

Yup, I'm sick AGAIN... grrrrr. I finally get to feeling better, after almost two weeks of being sick, so I went out in service yesterday. It was cold and windy; however, in my defense, I did layer my clothes to be very very warm and wore boots, scarf, the works....

And yet here I am looking like a Nyquil commercial - red runny nose, cough, congestion, YUCKY AWFUL FEELING SO YOU CANT REST GERMIES....

Anyhoo, I thought since we've been eating so much better, I wouldn't get sick so often, ... but my system (and my thin blood) are no match for the super bugs in NC (personally I think these germs are on steroids to be completely honest). Talking about eating better, I'm so proud of Ciara! She's loving some of the new organic foods we've been eating, like this yummy bowl of cereal she had this morning!
It looks yummy enough to have another bowl! No, seriously, she had like two bowls! MMMMMMM Yummies in my tummies!

Anyway, that's why I haven't blogged in a while,. . . having a hard time breathing, much less typing!

Before I got sick we went to a place in Asheville to watch a "discounted movie" called the Asheville Pizza & Brewery Company. Pretty cool place. Movie's are $3.00, and you can order pizza, snacks and they have an open bar.... the only thing I worry about is the aliens that have invaded their building:
No one seemed to notice their invasion; however, I send these picture for proper documentation of this historical event. Here are a few more pics, it truly was a unique experience!
Oh my goodness this picture makes me laugh so hard! Meet Austin, he's one of the pre-teens from our kingdom hall. He's having issues with his beer belly, but we have been trying to slowly bring this to his attention. Too bad he always makes a joke of it! (Then again he looks a little afraid, maybe he doesn't own a mirror at home?!?)
We truly appreciate him in our hall, along with their family. They have been quite an inspiration to our family.... they may not have much, but they always have something to share. And just having someone to kick back with and laugh with you is always a good thing!

After a long day going to work, picking up my glasses, going to the movies and tackling the Asheville traffic I'm no longer used to, it was a relief to get home.... only to be sick for two weeks after that (ick), . . . but fun nonetheless.
So Kim and I packed the kids up in the Jeep and off we went (btw - I know, my Jeep is filthy, but I swear I had gone thru the carwash the day before -- the joy of road salt!)

Ok, time for a hot bath, nyquil, so I can rest medicine!

Miss you all!

TGIF?!? NOT

Nothing great to share today. Except I wish I had my camera when I went thru the car wash! There was this guy in front of us, . . . he drove back and forth and back and forth and back and forth out and in the car wash trying to figure out why it wasn't working! Guess he never saw the sign that says "Do Not Enter Car Wash Until Light Flashes Green". Ciara and I were so amused by the whole thing, . . . we thought "wow, we have been in the mountains way too long, ... we're so entertained by this!"

Soooo, it's definitely time for a vacation and something more amusing, don't you think?

Boot Leaking Issues

Guess how you keep your feet dry when your boots soak up water? Yup, bag socks. #1 - put socks on, #2 - put bags on, #3 - put boots on and your off!

Another day of snow and cold.

Here's my little snow pup..... MUSH CIARA MUSH!

It's beginning to look a lot like winter, everywhere you goooo.....

Soooo, today was an adventure of it's own! Ciara and I ventured off to work, which meant a nice little hike to the main road in wintry cold weather. Here's Ciara half way up the road, and me huffing and puffing not too far behind.

The cool thing is we saw some deer prints in the snow... apparently they came to visit us between the time Rob left to work at 6:00 a.m. and us leaving at 11:00 a.m. I think there were two of them as there were prints on both sides of the road. They were down our road, up the road past our car and went back into the woods near our neighbors house. Wish I would have gotten glimpse of them. Oh well. who knows, maybe we startled them when they heard us leaving the house. Ciara wanted to catch a glimpse of them so bad!

So, we finally got out onto the main road, and that's when my heart sank! The road was completely covered in snow and ice. So, I turned on the four wheel drive, put the car in second, gave a little prayer to Jehovah, and off we went! It really wasn't that bad. (Thanks for the all terrain tires Rob! You are the bomb!) Here's what the road looked like and it was 12 degrees. So, of course, after getting all the way to Sylva, I'm so proud of myself for getting to work.... and of course i just KNOW that everyone will be like "wow, the Floridian made it in, we're impressed". But guess what?!? They weren't impressed. Know why? Because they didn't make it in, . . . couldn't get out because of bad weather! GRRRRR.... oh well, it was still a good day, since I had much to catch up on.

Anyhoo, the adventure back was fine, too. I guess once you drive once on it, it isn't so scary. We just take our time, and away we go! We had to stop for some groceries on the way home. Guess how we got them from the main road to the house? Yup, our handy sled!!! Are we country folk or what?

Still working on 1099's. Still haven't passed June of last year, but working hard hoping I'll finish in the next two weeks. Not going to have much of a life until then; however, I'm trying to do all I can to show how dependable I am since they've already let one person go from our office. I was assured today that I'm an important and valuable part of the team (yeah, me, go figure!).... so I guess I just have to keep going, one file at a time. If you don't hear from me in the next day or two, bring your shovel and come dig me out of all these files!!!

Ok, it's 9:58 and I promised Rob that I would start going to bed no later than 10:00 at night. This staying up to 1:00 a.m. is starting to kill me! Have a great night, and see you soon with more adventures in the lives of the DeNardo's! (P.S. - my mom and dad's 35 year anniversary is coming up in two weeks! What am I going to get them? I was thinking of moving Cindy's desk out of their house and buying them a small desk! Happy Anniversary to them and I finally get my favorite desk! --hmmmm, good plan!)

Love you and miss you all!

Little Winter Visitor

We had the cutest little visitor today while we were schooling. He was trying to get a little food from our feeder, but was sooo shy! Isn't he cute?!? I tried to get a better picture, but he was way too camera shy, so I had to snap this one from my living room out the dining room window!

Cold Winter Morning

Woke up this morning to a freezing bedroom! It's definitely going to be a coollldddd winter. I'm finally getting over this cold thing I had .... was great to be at the meeting yesterday.

I am so excited -- my new sewing class starts tonight. Hopefully the weather will hold out long enough for me to make it! It's a beginners sewing class, which i think I might be a little more advanced than a beginner, but I so wanted to make a queen size quilt for my bed - and being in class will be the motivation I need to finish the project.

I took the cutest class a few weeks ago. We made a mini quilt picture frame. I'll take a picture of mine in a little bit and post, ... really was a cute class PLUS I finished the entire project in one day! That's always a good feeling.

Well, it's time to start schooling. We're actually running a little late this morning, but with the cold weather, we tend to go slowly through our day anyway!
11:00 PM update - well, sewing class was canceled for tonight due to weather. Our road is completely and solidly iced over. I'm so happy with the car Rob bought us, I know it doesn't have much room on the inside , . . . and sometimes I do miss the room in the mini-van; however, we soooo needed the four wheel drive! A semi was having trouble along with other trucks on the main roads, yet our little jeep with it's low 4 wheel drive pulls us out without any hesitation whatsoever! Talk about an awesome vehicle! Anyhoo, we spend the afternoon sledding, and just enjoying all the snow! It was such a nice evening, and I totally froze my toes off! This photo shows how we greet Rob from work. I stand at bottom of hill, Ciara, Daisy and Delilah race up to the top and walk daddy half way down, then Ciara hops on her sled and the dogs race after her the rest of the way down! Talk about a greeting!!! The snow is awesomely beautiful. It snowed ALLLL day. We are expecting 5 - 7 inches by morning! BRRRRRRR

Welcome

Welcome all to the crazy DeNardo Family blog! I'm always looking for ways to keep in touch with everyone. Life feels so hectic, it is sometimes difficult to keep eveyone informed as to what's going on, and how our lives are moving forward. Please stop by from time to time and see how things are going, and what we are all up to!

Love you all!
